About CityScout

CityScout turns fragmented government records into real estate development intelligence. We help architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, developers, lenders, and other industry professionals identify active projects, understand the firms and people involved, and act while opportunities are still forming.

Our team is remote-first. This role also spends substantial time in the market because strong relationships and complex sales often benefit from direct, in-person contact.

The role

This is a front-line sales and growth role centered on customer relationships, disciplined execution, and revenue.

CityScout has a working product, established customer use cases, proprietary market data, sales infrastructure, messaging, and an active pipeline. You will use that system, improve it through real customer evidence, and take responsibility for moving opportunities from first contact through close and expansion.

Frequent travel is an essential part of the role. Travel will include industry conferences, trade shows, customer meetings, market visits, and relationship-building events. Candidates should expect regular multi-day trips and periods of heavier travel around the industry calendar.

You will also use AI agents and MCP-enabled systems for account research, meeting preparation, personalized outreach, follow-up, CRM maintenance, proposal development, and internal handoffs. Technical curiosity matters because our best salespeople understand the product, communicate specific customer needs, and help improve the tools they use.

What you will do

  • Own a full-cycle sales process from prospecting and qualification through close and expansion
  • Build relationships with decision-makers across CityScout's priority customer segments
  • Run discovery calls, product demonstrations, pilots, and commercial conversations
  • Travel frequently for conferences, customer meetings, market visits, and strategic partnerships
  • Prepare thoroughly using CityScout data, account research, and relationship context
  • Translate CityScout's capabilities into a specific business case for each buyer
  • Maintain accurate opportunity stages, next steps, stakeholders, and forecasts
  • Follow up quickly and consistently after meetings and events
  • Coordinate with Revenue Operations and Growth on targeting, campaigns, process, and measurement
  • Bring structured customer feedback to product, engineering, and leadership
  • Identify expansion, partnership, and new-market opportunities
  • Use AI and MCP-enabled tools to improve research depth, personalization, preparation, and follow-through
  • Write clear product requests and acceptance criteria when customer needs require a change
  • Contribute ideas, workflows, and safe agent-assisted PRs when useful to improve the sales or customer experience

What strong performance looks like

  • You create qualified pipeline and convert it into revenue.
  • You develop relationships that create repeat business, referrals, and market credibility.
  • Your discovery uncovers real business needs, urgency, stakeholders, budget, and buying process.
  • Your demonstrations connect CityScout directly to the customer's workflow and commercial goals.
  • Conferences and travel produce measurable follow-up, pipeline, partnerships, or customer insight.
  • Your CRM is accurate and your forecasts are supported by evidence.
  • You follow through without requiring repeated reminders.
  • Your customer feedback is specific enough to guide product and operating decisions.
  • You use the existing sales system with discipline and improve it through evidence.

What we are looking for

  • A record of selling, developing business, or managing customer relationships
  • Strong discovery, listening, presentation, and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • High ownership and consistent follow-through
  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently
  • Comfort operating independently as part of a remote-first team
  • Discipline in CRM management, forecasting, and next-step execution
  • Ability to learn a technical, data-rich product and explain it in business terms
  • Fluency with AI tools for research, preparation, drafting, and workflow support
  • Comfort with MCP-enabled tools or the ability to learn them quickly
  • Ability to review AI output critically and maintain an authentic, professional voice

Helpful experience

  • Selling SaaS, data, intelligence, or workflow products
  • Selling to architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers, developers, lenders, or real estate professionals
  • Full-cycle sales in an early-stage or new-market environment
  • Industry conferences, field sales, channel relationships, or market development
  • Multi-stakeholder or enterprise sales processes
  • Public-record, project, construction, real estate, or geospatial data
  • Working closely with Revenue Operations, product, or engineering teams

How we evaluate candidates

The practical assessment uses a realistic CityScout account, representative product information, and relevant market context. You will prepare:

  • An account strategy and stakeholder map
  • A short personalized outreach sequence
  • A discovery plan
  • A product demonstration narrative tied to the customer's business case
  • A conference or in-market follow-up plan
  • An AI or MCP-enabled workflow that improves preparation, follow-up, or CRM quality

The walkthrough includes a discovery and sales simulation. We evaluate preparation, listening, commercial judgment, communication, the ability to ask useful follow-up questions, command of the product, and the ability to convert information into a clear next step.

Output and working hours

CityScout evaluates contribution through useful, reliable output and customer or company impact. We do not use visible activity or time online as substitutes for results. The work can move quickly, and important deadlines or production issues sometimes require additional effort. Our standing expectation is clear ownership, sound judgment, strong communication, and work that holds up in practice.

Leverage and accountability

CityScout expects people to build leverage into their work through software, automation, AI agents, MCP-enabled systems, better data, and reusable processes. The person directing a system remains accountable for accuracy, security, judgment, and the final result.

Remote-first work

CityScout is a remote-first company. Team members are expected to manage their responsibilities, communicate progress and risks, document important decisions, and collaborate effectively across locations. Each role states any required collaboration windows, location restrictions, or travel expectations separately.
